Miss Carmody
Hometown: Orland Park (southwest suburb of Chicago)
College: Hope College
Major: Secondary Education - Physical Education & Social Studies Composite
Minor: Health & Management
Hobbies: running; cooking; traveling; water skiing; spending time with family and friends; art history; photography; visiting the Farmer's Market; taking my dog, Ryleigh, to the lake; & helping to find a cure for blood cancer.
I was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago with my two younger siblings, Tommy and Allison. My family and friends who I am surrounded by mean the world to me, and I would not be who I am today without them. They are the individuals who affirmed that I am a born teacher, and it was my destiny of all the grandchildren. Ever since first setting foot in my kindergarten classroom, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. From a young age, I was constantly organizing my siblings, cousins, the neighbor kids, and anyone else who wanted to play some sort of game, or my favorite - school. As time passed and I reached high school, it was evident that my passion and interest in kids had not wavered, and thus began my journey as a teacher education candidate.
After graduating from Hope, I served as a long-term English as a Second Language teacher in West Ottawa; Recruitment Specialist for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training; and, most recently a PE and Health teacher at Spring Lake Schools. I coach high school boys cross country across the river (Spring Lake), but spend my days at Lakeshore teaching health and PE!!! I am excited to be a part of the Buccaneer Family! GO BUCS!
